Interview of Detainee ISN688. NCIS Investigation into the 2006 Suicides

On June 10, 2006, Guantánamo prisoner Fahmi Abdullah Ahmed (ISN 688) was interviewed as part of the investigation conducted by the Naval Criminal Investigation Service (or NCIS) into the death, earlier the same day, of three Guantánamo prisoners of Cell Block Alpha, Camp Delta, Guantánamo Bay Naval Base. Here is an extract of the official report of that interview. That report was part of the NCIS Investigation File, which was released by the Department of Defense in August 2008.

ISN-[688] related he believes the detainees committed suicide because of the pressure. ISN-[688] stated the guards swear and constantly harass them. ISN-[688] stated they have held us here for four years and they haven't told us about our cases. ISN-[688] related they couldn't tolerate this kind of psychological pressure. ISN-[688] related the guards have taken all of their items and this is increasing the mental pressure. ISN-[688] further stated this kind of pressure would even make a normal man think about suicide.
