Algerian Former Prisoner at Guantanamo Lodges Complaint Against U.S Government

The Algerian prisoner recently released from Guantanamo prison, named Mustapha Hamlili has hired a U.S lawyer to bring his case to court, at the aim of receiving compensation from the U.S Government. He argued that his imprisonment was abusive. He called on the assistance of President Abdelaziz Bouteflika to bring back his family from Pakistan, to Algeria.

“Hamilton law firm, which is specialized in Guantanamo prisoners’ issue, has lodged a complaint just before the release of the named Hamlili, last July.2nd,” a source close to the former prisoner said.

The same source added the U.S law allows each prisoner lodging a lawsuit to prove that his imprisonment was abusive. The U.S law firm has already enquired the lawyer of Hamlili, in Algeria, whether the former prisoner in Guantanamo, clings to his decision to bring his case to court against the U.S Government. This latter has given his consent.

However, another Algerian recently freed from the penitentiary of Guantanamo, living in Algiers, is receiving psychological treatment at his house, after his health deteriorated from the torture he was subject to at the U.S prison. He is scared of leaving his house, his friends said.
